Nick Cave has named the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde his favourite film of all time.The musician, who composed the score for the Netflix film with Warren Ellis, was asked to name his favourite film ever by a fan on his newsletter The Red Hand Files.In response to the question, Cave simply wrote: “Blonde. Love, Nick.”Directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Ana de Armas, Blonde is based on a novel by Joyce Carol Oates and is described as a “reimagining” of Monroe’s life.A synopsis reads: “Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe.

Amy Winehouse biopic, Back To Black, is released today, which includes an original new song by Nick Cave.The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and follows the life and career of the iconic London singer, with the title role being taken on by Marisa Abela.The soundtrack, titled ‘Back To Black: Songs from the Original Motion Picture’, is set for release on May 17 via UMR/Island Records, and features three original recordings from Winehouse’s highly influential debut, ‘Frank’ and three songs from her multi-award-winning LP ‘Back To Black.It also includes a new original track called ‘Song for Amy’, which is sung by Cave.Cave, along with longtime collaborator Warren Ellis, composed and recorded the film’s score.A further five songs are included on the album, recorded by artists whom Amy Winehouse saw as an inspiration. Nick Cave has announced a European solo live tour for this summer – you can find all the details below.The Bad Seeds frontman is due to hit the road in June for a run of headline dates, where he’ll be “performing songs from his extensive catalogue”. Cave will be accompanied on stage by Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood.He’ll begin the forthcoming stint with three shows at the Onassis Stegi venue in Athens, Greece on June 1, 2 and 3 before an appearance at the Belgrade River Fest in Serbia on June 18.Two further performances are scheduled for Musiikkitalo in Helsinki, Finland (June 25) and the Harpa concert hall in Reykjavík, Iceland (July 1).Tickets go on sale at 10am local time this Friday (April 12) – you’ll be able to buy yours here.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have announced details of a new live album, created from their three performances at the Sydney Opera House last year.Titled ‘Australian Carnage’, the collection features audio taken from the pair’s performances in the Australian city, held as part of their 16-stop tour in the country at the end of 2022.
