Kirkcudbright Riding of the Marches principals chosen

The officials for the annual Kirkcudbright Riding of the Marches have been declared.Scott Milligan has been selected as cornet with Amie Blower as cornet’s lass.Christine Findlater is pursuivant while Susan English has the role of courier.Lynors for the July 14 spectacle are Thomas Jardine, Nikki McFarlane, Fraser Morrison and Eden McCulloch.Honorary president for the event is Jane Maxwell – the first woman to hold the role.Cornet Scott moved back to the area after living for a couple of years on Islay.He said: “I worked on a farm before joining Tarff Valley seven years ago where I currently work.“I’m a massive rugby fan, playing for Stewartry rugby Club.“I also enjoy the occasional round of golf, shooting and some fishing.“Having been invited to be lynor in 2017 I am delighted to be Kircudbright Cornet 2023 and cannot wait to represent this club over the summer.”Cornet’s lass Amie is originally from Bombie Farm, Kircudbright and now lives at Bridge of Dee with her family.She said: “I currently work as a vet part-time at Charnwood, Dumfries.“My main interests are centred around animals with my two dogs, two brood mares and small flock of sheep.“I first rode the Kircudbright ROM at the age of 10 and was a lynor in 2018.“I am looking forward to everything involved in representing the town as this year cornet’s lass.”Pursuivant Christine Findlater is from Elizafield Stables at Collin.She works as a learning assistant for Dumfries and Galloway Council.Christine said: “I am married to Raymond and have two sons, Ross and Ciaran.“My main hobby is horse riding, enjoying hacking out and participating in local riding of the marches and fun rides.“I first rode Kircudbright in 1988 and have supported it ever since, winning the
