Celtic chairman Ian Bankier survived a dramatic vote on his re-election after a stormy AGM in which he launched a remarkable blast at the Scottish government.
Bankier and director Brian Wilson – who was forced into an apology after writing that Rangers had been “punished by demotion” in 2012 – saw resolutions for their re-election fail as AGM dissenters held the hierarchy to account for the spectacular failure to clinch 10 in a row.But they both comfortably survived the poll meaning the Hoops board remains intact.
That’s despite a Resolution 12 championed by the Celtic Trust calling for “fresh talent” at the top table after a campaign dubbed “embarrassing” by one member.
