BBC fans' petition to save 'terrible' axed TV show reaches 50k signatures
Following the unexpected axe of fan favourite series Our Flag Meets Death earlier this month, fans of the hit BBC show have banded together to campaign for it’s renewal, with a petition shared online now exceeding 50,000 signatures at the time of writing.The iconic series which was the brain child of Taika Waititi - who is married to singer Rita Ora - ran for two series in total and is set during the golden age of piracy.The show itself follows the misadventures of gentleman-turned-pirate Stede Bonnet and his crew aboard the Revenge and has widely been praised by critics for it’s inclusive LGBTQ+ representation - in fact, it even boasts a score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, clearly showing a firm fanbase. Following the announcement that the show would not be renewed for a third series, lead star Rhys Darby, who plays Stede, lamented it’s ending on social media as he shared a poignant photo of the entire case alongside the caption: "Us for you, forever...
