We’re all living through a historic event - King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be officially crowned on 6th May. Few people are letting the day go by without a bit of a fuss - on top of street parties, later pub opening times, and Charles and Camilla’s faces appearing on tea towels, quite a few food and drink products have enjoyed a limited edition regal makeover.
Just as Christmas food tends to consist of pigs in blanket-themed grub (I tried it all here), Coronation edibles tend to feature Coronation chicken and crowns - makes sense.
Having made it my mission to sample some of the goodies on offer, here are my verdicts… M&S King coronation club sandwich, £4.50 Rating: 7/10 I’ve got to admit that the aesthetics of coronation chicken kind of gives me the ick.
So I knew if I was going to survive this taste test then I needed to get over that issue pronto.Things temporarily worrying when I thought I spotted some beetroot - my food nemesis - poking out between the slices of bread, but luckily it was just red onion.
