ITV series Grace, inspired by Peter James' bestselling novels.The 39-year-old actor stars as Detective Sergeant Glenn Branson, who joined the police force after his children were born, leaving his job as a bouncer behind.His character is witty and charming, forming a friendship with the moody and detached Detective Grace, played by Life On Mars star John Simm.

Ahead of the series' launch this Sunday, Richie, who previously enjoyed fame as Ndale Kayuni in Waterloo Road, praised the modern outlook of the new series.

Richie revealed he previously witnessed an "uproar" after he played a Black police officer in a period drama, showing the progress the television industry still needs to make in diversity and representation.
