Gary Lineker branded 'out of touch' after defending footballers not taking wage cuts

Gary Lineker has been called out by the public after trying to shift pressure away from footballers and on to ‘all the wealthy’ amid the PFA’s decision not to issue a blanket reduction on wages.

The Match of the Day veteran has questioned the general expectation that players should accept cuts on their huge wages without a second thought.

Lineker went on to state that people have been quick to jump on the ’judgmental high horse’ when it comes to the Premier League professionals, despite the average annual wage being upwards of £3m.

Speaking on BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show, the 59-year-old explained: "It is unfair to call on any individuals, let alone a group of young men.
