The Match Of The Day host now posts recipes and cooking videos on social media but he only entered the kitchen in 2015, when his marriage broke down.
Gary, 59, said: "I taught myself to cook four or five years ago because I was on my own and used to go to restaurants and sit there on my own and used to get takeaways all the time. "I was like, 'Come on, get a grip.
Teach yourself to cook.' And I'm glad I did." Adding that he enjoys solitude and feels "lucky" to be alone, Gary – a father of four grown-up kids – said: "I do think, 'Thank heavens, I am single and don't have loads of small kids', as it must be so
