The former Tottenham and Leicester had not been well the night before the Three Lions’ opener against Ireland but decided not to tell boss Bobby Robson.
As a result he ended up starting the game and actually netted the opener in the 1-1 draw in Cagliari, but things started to go downhill soon after.
Having bravely refused to dash off the pitch and leave his nation a man down in the group clash, he stretched for a ball and lost control of his bowels.
