Female prison officer admits 'intimate' relationship with inmate and intel leak
dailystar.co.ukfemale prison officer has admitted to having an "intimate" relationship with an inmate where "sensitive" intel was leaked.Stephanie Heaps, 30, is said to have passed on "sensitive police and prison intelligence and tactics" to Leon Ramsden, also known as Layten Ramsden.Heaps, 30, also admitted to having overlooked criminality while working at HMP Wymott in Lancashire, pleading guilty to two counts of misconduct in public office during her appearance at Bolton Crown Court.The former copper has also admitted to encouraging or assisting the commission of an either way offence, with Heaps speaking with Ramsden on an illegal mobile phone in his possession.Heaps also pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to launder money.The charges levelled at the 30-year-old are said to have all taken place between March 2018 and July 2020 while Heaps was working as a prison guard and member of Greater Manchester Police force.Ramsden also appeared in court to admit to conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to launder money, and two counts of possessing a mobile phone in prison.He denied, however, a charge of supplying cannabis inside the prison.Ramsden will go on trial next year alongside Lee Ramsden, 50, and Clifford McCarthy, 33, who denied a charge of conspiracy to launder money at an earlier hearing.
Joanne Campbell, 46, previously pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to launder money and has also admitted to encouraging or assisting the commission of an either way offence.Joining them also are Thomas Barrass, 26, and Philip Markland, 38, who both pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit burglary.All mentioned, as well as Heaps, will be sentenced following the conclusion of the.
