No cast has been announced as of yet.The synopsis for the new series reads: “In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose.”In the novel, a young boy with extremely bad luck called Stanley Yelnats is falsely accused of theft and sent to a juvenile discipline camp in the desert.

Alien: Romulus will be arriving on the Disney+ service on January 15, an official press release has revealed. The seventh instalment in the main Alien franchise was a hit at the box office, and featured highly in NME’s 20 Best Films of 2024.Directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus’ story is set between the first two Alien films.

Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight has reportedly departed the upcoming Star Wars film that is set to revolve around Daisy Ridley’s Rey.Knight’s involvement was first announced in March 2023, when it emerged that he would be writing the screenplay for the movie, replacing Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, who had themselves left the project.Variety reports that the film is intended to pick up the story after the events of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019), and will follow Rey’s efforts to open her own Jedi Academy. With this setback, however, it is unlikely the film will enter the production stage until the second half of 2025 at the earliest.NME has approached Knight’s representatives for comment.The film is still slated to be the directorial debut of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who directed episodes of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, and has picked up two Oscars for Best Documentary Short Film.There is not a Star Wars film set for release until Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu in May 2026, which, if it arrives on time, will bring to an end a seven-year gap.

Disney+ are not happy about the latest increase in the streaming service’s prices, with some vowing that it’s “time to cancel”.The planned hikes in UK subscription prices were announced in August, and came into effect on October 17.
