Star Wars series Andor is out now, ahead of its release on April 22 – watch it here. The 95-second clip showcases the returning character K-2SO, played by Alan Tudyk, who appeared in the 2016 movie Rogue One but didn’t feature in Andor’s first season.
Also making an appearance is Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), who returns after appearing in two episodes of season one. There’s also a glimpse of Ben Mendelsohn as villain Orson Krennic, who was killed in Rogue One – with Andor being a prequel, he’s able to return.
As well as Tudyk, Whitaker and Mendelsohn, other names set to return include Diego Luna as the titular Cassian Andor, Kyle Soller as Syril Karn, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, and Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael. With the first season of Andor being set five years before the events of Rogue One, the timeline is moving closer – and from the clip, it looks as though there’s going to be plenty of action in store in the new season. The track ‘The Revolution Starts Now’, an anti-war song from American singer-songwriter Steve Earle, plays a big part in the trailer, too.
Star Wars doesn’t usually use pre-existing songs in trailers, though they did use a version of Huttese version of Peter Schilling’s ‘Major Tom (Coming Home)’ in a trailer for Skeleton Crew last year.
