Around 60 flats were evacuated following reports of a ‘potential suspicious package’ on Thurloe Street, in Rusholme, just before 8pm on Saturday night (June 5).

A 33-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of 'making or possession of an explosive', is currently in custody. A large area of close to Xaverian College was cordoned off while experts worked at the scene last night.

Residents were kept away for around five hours while Royal Logistic Corps Bomb Disposal experts worked to make the area safe.
