Bomb squad swarm Scots garden after WW2 explosive found

WW2 device was discovered. Specialist units raced to the town of Stromness this morning after the alarm was raised on Orkney.

The teams found the three inch piece 'historic projectile ' with left over TNT. The Royal Navy Bomb disposal carried out a controlled explosion at Warbeth beach.It comes after a Coastguard Rescue Officer found the 'unusual object' on the shore at the bottom of his garden yesterday afternoon.HM Coastguard - Orkney and Shetland explained: "His training immediately kicked in, recognising the object looked like ordnance."Following consultation with Royal Navy Bomb disposal, they arrived in Stromness this morning and carried out a controlled explosion at Warbeth beach."The piece of ordnance was a 3 inch historic.
