Darts hero James Wade rushed to hospital after feeling "extremely unwell"

Premier League as he remains in a German hospital after being taken unwell on Sunday. World no.5 Wade was forced to withdraw from the European Darts Open on Sunday due to illness.

The Machine had been due to participate in the semi-finals, but after feeling unwell was advised to pull out of the event at the last-four stage.

Wade has now released a statement confirming that he is recovering in a German hospital after being taken ill following his quarter-final victory over Ryan Searle.

The statement, which was posted on Wade's Twitter account, reads: "World number five darts player James Wade is recovering in hospital after being taken ill on Sunday evening following a quarter final victory in a European competition."Wade was forced to retire prior to the semi final, and was taken to Leverkusen hospital following advice from a German paramedic team that were called to the venue to assist the Aldershot ace after he felt extremely unwell during the event."Following his admission to hospital, Wade underwent a series of test to establish the cause of serious symptoms including a racing heart, high blood pressure, nausea and dizziness."Although the player, one of the most successful ever to compete in the PDC with 11 major titles, is now comfortable and improving he is being detained by the hospital team for observation and further treatment is currently not fit enough to fly home."The statement also includes a quote from Wade's wife Samantha, who was not out with the star in Germany as she is looking after their son Arthur and also expecting the birth of their second child.
