Manchester United youngster James Garner brought the curtain down on his Nottingham Forest loan spell with a bang on Sunday, helping them win the Championship play-off final at Wembley against Huddersfield Town.

Garner, who joined Forest on loan for a second time last August, claimed the assist for the only goal of the game, seeing his intended cross for Ryan Yates turned home by Terriers defender Levi Colwill.

It was enough to seal a 1-0 win for Forest and end their 23-year absence from the Premier League. Although his match-winning assist was the highlight of his performance underneath the Wembley arch, his all-round showing was about so much more, with the midfielder dictating proceedings and not shirking from flying into several challenges.

It was a polished performance from the 21-year-old in the biggest game of his career so far.
