They had issued a rallying call to the 1,300 registered walkers to keep fundraising if they could for local charities. Moments after the deadline of midnight (Tuesday, May 5) the coffers were boosted even more by businessman Sir Tom Hunter.
The Hunter Foundation will now add 100 per cent to the total of walkers’ funds instead of the usual 50, doubling them amount of cash each Aberdeen Kiltwalker has raised.
