Tragedy struck Cheltenham Festival on day three after Copper Gone West was put down. The horse was pulled up with a leg injury in the Pertemps Final and was sadly put down after the race. “Copper Gone West was pulled up between the final two flights and I’m afraid it had to be put down due to a leg injury,” said ITV Racing presenter Ed Chamberlain, who broke the devastating news. “Simply for the owners, the family and Tim Vaughan, the trainer, jockey Alan Johns, who was on board and, in particular to Chloe Jones, who looked after Copper Gone West. “It’s really sad news to have come out of that race.” "Sadly Copper Gone West in the Pertemps pulled up sharply between the last two with a fatal injury," commented one Twitter user.
