The change will directly affect people currently on six benefits. The plan to move people over to Universal Credit is known as 'managed migration' and comes amid the huge shake-up to benefits.The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed plans to complete managed migration of legacy benefits to Universal Credit by the end of 2024.

Managed migration began with a 2019 pilot scheme and was due to be complete by December 2023, but this was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.Universal Credit payments are vitally important to claimants up and down the country, particularly as the country becomes mired in a cost of living squeeze due to rising energy bills and inflation.It is therefore important to know exactly what is happening to your benefits if you need to switch over.The change directly affects people on the six following legacy benefits:If you are already on one of the six benefits listed above, you will eventually have to move on to Universal Credit to continue receiving paymentsThis will be done by managed migration, set out in plans by DWP chief Therese Coffey.She said: "It’s absolutely my intention and drive to get it completed to what we said it would be, which is by the end of 2024.”Citizens Advice explained: "If you already get one of them, you’ll have to move onto Universal Credit by 2024.
