330 litter bins in Falkirk removed as part of bid to save £16k a year

Falkirk councillor has been told that a request to bring back 330 litter bins removed as part of a review would cost over £160,000 a year.

Lower Braes councillor John McLuckie raised the issue at a meeting of Falkirk Council’s Scrutiny committee, where councillors of all parties questioned how well the new litter strategy was working.Following complaints of litter bins overflowing, Mr McLuckie was told that 330 bins had been removed following a service review.And he was told it would not be straightforward to replace them.The cost of the actual bins would be £55,000, while employing four members of staff to empty them would cost a further £108,000 every year.Falkirk Live is an exciting new title bringing you the latest headlines from.
