Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Dad Mark Nicholson could be the luckiest man alive after slicing through his neck with a diamond disc cutter.The nine-inch blade missed his voicebox by a couple of millimetres.

Mark – a former lifeguard and soldier – said his first-aid knowledge kicked in when the gadget slipped while he worked on French doors at a customer’s home on March 15.

The window-fitter explained: “My foot had gone off the edge of some planks the customer put down to protect his floor.“As I was trying to get my balance, I fell backwards and the blade skipped down my chin and dug into my neck.

I instantly put my hands to my face to assess the situation, and it just felt wet.“I knew straight away then that it was more serious.”Mark, 53, said: “I clicked into survival mode and remembered what I had been taught in the Army.
