BGT stuntman Darcy Oake says Jonathan Goodwin's paralysis 'changed perspective'
Britain's Got Talent contestant Darcy Oake has confessed Jonathan Goodwin's paralysis has "changed his perspective."The 34-year-old appeared on the ITV talent show in 2014 and wowed the world with his jaw-dropping dove illusion act. After his first audition, judge Simon Cowell said he was "the best magician" they'd ever had in the competition and he sailed through to the live shows. The magician later became known for his daredevil stunts, most notably when he escaped a death-defying bear trap with seconds remaining. Darcy, who is originally from Canada, came 5th overall in the series, which was won by musical theatre group Collabro. In an exclusive interview with Daily Star, the illusionist confessed that he has started to slow down with performing dangerous stunts and revealed former escapologist Jonathan Goodwin was part of that decision.Jonathan, who appeared on America's Got Talent, was left paralysed and in a wheelchair for life after a dangerous stunt went horribly wrong.Speaking about his accident, Darcy said: "Things were changing before because I'm getting older and I have a baby now, but the whole Jonathan Goodwin thing changed my perspective.""I know Goodwin really well, he's a smart guy and he's not just out there just being crazy.
