Khabib Nurmagomedov has returned to training for the first time since his father’s tragic death earlier this month. Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap, passed away at the age of 57 after contracting the coronavirus.
The 31-year-old has been “left alone” to mourn by UFC president Dana White, with manager Rizvan Magomedov confirming he has pulled out of a proposed clash with Justin Gaethje on September 19.
However, pictures released by Khabib’s management team show he is now back in training as he gears up for what will be an emotional return to the Octagon.It is believed his showdown with Gaethje could take place in Abu Dhabi - the scene of his last victory over Dustin Poirier back in September 2019.That win was made even more special for Khabib.
