Earlier today, Tesco boss John Allan urged shoppers to stop panic-buying. Speaking to BBC radio, he said: "There's plenty of product in the supply chain, there's plenty of food at Tesco and other supermarkets, and I don't think anybody needs to panic buy. "We, and I'm sure our competitors, are re-filling our supply chains as rapidly as ever we can." His message comes after shelves in supermarkets across the UK have been completely emptied by shoppers panic buying 'essentials' like pasta, toilet paper and bread.
At the same time the message was shared, a photo was posted on social media which shows the heartbreaking effects stockpiling can have on the most vulnerable.
