The Pogues have spoken to NME about their 2025 tour in celebration of the 40th anniversary of ‘Rum Sodomy & The Lash’, playing without Shane MacGowan, and how Fontaines D.C. helped pave the way for the run of dates.The Irish icons recently announced their first headline tour in 13 years – and first since the passing of Shane MacGowan – which will feature the original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy, alongside a cast of guests standing in for the late frontman.It will come off the back of two shows that commemorate 40 years of The Pogues’ debut album ‘Red Roses For Me’ this year.

Here’s what went down at Fontaines D.C.’s intimate ‘Romance’ London show

Fontaines D.C. played an intimate surprise gig in London last night (August 22) to launch their new album ‘Romance‘ – check out footage, the setlist and more below.The Dublin band – comprised of Grian Chatten, Tom Coll, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan III and Carlos O’Connell – took over London’s iconic Electric Ballroom for a last minute show in celebration of the release of their fourth album.They played to a sold-out crowd of 1500 at the Camden venue which saw the likes of Harry Styles, Cillian Murphy, Florence Welch and more in attendance.To kick off the night, Coll, Deegan and Carlos made their way to the stage as lime green lights flashed while Curly – swapping his 6-string for a bass guitar – began the opening notes to ‘Romance’s haunting and eery title track.Chatten walked on stage sporting a black t-shirt, black kilt, white knee-high socks, black combat boots and a pair of dark sunglasses which has become his uniform for the band’s current era.

Fontaines D.C. have announced a handful of intimate UK album launch shows for their forthcoming LP ‘Romance‘.The Dublin band – comprised of Grian Chatten, Carlos O’Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan III, and Tom Coll – took to their official social media accounts to share a list of intimate live shows in collaboration with select record shops.They will be playing at Kingston’s Pryzim with Banquet Records, Liverpool’s Content with Rough Trade and Newcastle’s Bolier Shop with Reflex.Tickets to the shows are set to go on sale this Friday (June 21) at 10am local time.

Fontaines DC drummer Tom Coll has announced details of a new compilation of Irish music that he has curated for release later this year.The ‘Goitse A Thaisce’ compilation is set for release via Coll’s own Skinty Records on August 6th, and sees him channeling the sounds of his own heritage after a period of time living back with his family in the West of Ireland.“The idea for this record came from an extended period of time living back in my family home in the west of Ireland,” said Coll.“Here, I found myself in the midst of a vast, mountainous landscape, a place that vividly recalled my childhood memories of old Irish traditional music. This experience sparked a need to immerse myself in the tradition once again.
