Red Bull are pleading their innocence as the F1’s champion team continue talks with the sport’s governing body following their budget cap breach.After more than a week of speculation, it was finally confirmed on Monday that the Milton Keynes squad had overspent during their 2021 drivers’ championship-winning season.While the breach has been classed as ‘minor’, it could still have been anything up to £5.7million. It is thought Red Bull overspent by around £1.5million, money which could have gone towards extra upgrades for Max Verstappen’s car amid his intense title fight with Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has responded to FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem after the seven-time world champion was criticised for his activism by the former rally driver. Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso has slammed the FIA and accused this season's race directors as 'incompetent' following a penalty issued in Miami. The Alpine driver was given a five-second time penalty at the end of the race for gaining an advantage off the track, which dropped him out of the top-ten and cost him a points finish.Alonso has been left furious with the incident and has not held back with his comments, which are only a small part of F1's ongoing frustration with the FIA. Alonso told the BBC: "We believe it was very unfair and incompetence from the stewards.

Lewis Hamilton will be fined by the FIA if he continues to wear jewellery while driving in Formula 1, president Mohammed ben Sulayem has confirmed. Hamilton called on the FIA to relax their strict rulings against drivers wearing jewellery while competing at the Miami Grand Prix last weekend. F1 has had rules surrounding jewellery implemented for several years now, but they have only been clamping down on the issue recently.
