Thailand to re-open to tourists with new visa during the pandemic

Thailand is set to re-open to tourists for the first time since it closed its borders to international visitors during the coronavirus pandemic.

The country is looking to introduce a new tourist visa, which would allow visitors to stay for up to nine months. The Special Tourist Visa STV, will see potential tourists asked to fill out an application form, and then if approved, quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

However, it's not quite as simple as it sounds. According to the Bangkok Post, the application process could include a number of hoops visitors will need to jump through in order to be approved - such as proof of medical insurance that covers up to $100,000, and an address of where you plan to stay.
