A schoolgirl was repeatedly told she was not allowed to wear her coat in a "freezing" classroom with open windows, her mum says.

Public health guidance issued to schools says windows in classrooms should be left open to improve air circulation to prevent the risk of coronavirus transmission - even as temperatures have plummeted.

East Lothian mum Yvonne Carr said her 12-year-old daughter Baillie, who has just started at Mussellburgh Grammar in Scotland, had repeatedly been asked to remove her coat.
