Tons of vital PPE was left at Prestwick Airport after boxes which arrived from China had no labels. The 90-ton consignment, which was flown in yesterday morning, was said to contain another 10 million masks and more testing kits.But NHS officials were left struggling to confirm what was in the unmarked packages.The GMB union have criticised procurement bosses and said any delays in getting kit to the frontline would lead to more deaths.
GMB national secretary Rehana Azam said: “Every day we hear daily kit on the frontline is running out – yet we have shipments of vital PPE delayed.” The masks, gowns and other equipment arrived on Friday morning at Prestwick, having been flown from Chengdu in China via Moscow.
