This feat comes after a solid $1.6M Valentine’s Day haul for the Jon Watts-directed, Tom Holland-Zendaya-Benedict Cumberbatch starring movie at 3,300 theaters. Sony has yet to make the record official this morning.

This year, the Oscars decided to go fairly safe with its Best Picture nominees. Some people, namely superhero film fans, were hoping for a curveball with a “Spider-Man: No Way Home” addition to the category.

The rights to these series are reverting back to Disney, but the studio has not yet announced plans for where “Daredevil” and company will go. Streaming platforms such as Disney Plus and Hulu are possibilities.
