Police officer makes it to birth of his baby girl - thanks to rapid back up from COVID-19 testing team

It was a shout one local bobby could not miss. Bolton PC Joe Burrows faced not being at the birth of his second child due concerns that he might have coronavirus.

The neighbourhood officer was displaying symptoms of COVID-19 and was sent for testing by Greater Manchester Police. The next day, his wife, Gemma, went into early labour and due to restrictions Joe could not visit her, and it looked like he would not be there for the new arrival.

But back up was on the way - with a rapid response. Joe contacted Supt Andrea Quinton, who is organising testing for GMP staff and officers.
