PlayStation backtracks on PS3 and Vita store closures after backlash from fans

PlayStation’s PS3 and Vita stores will remain open following a dramatic U-turn. Sony recently announced plans to close the online stores later this year – but significant backlash from PlayStation fans has forced the gaming giant to reconsider. “It's clear that we made the wrong decision here,” said PlayStation boss, Jim Ryan. “So today I’m happy to say that we will be keeping the PlayStation Store operational for PS3 and PS Vita devices.” However, there’s still one casualty – the PSP store will close, as planned, on July 2.
