Manchester United defender Phil Jones may not be leaving the club on transfer deadline day after his move to Bordeaux collapsed.Jones' 11-year stay at Old Trafford had been expected to come to an end during the January transfer window. The Ligue 1 giants appeared to be in the process of signing the former England international, who has only played one match for United since January 2020.After a series of devastating injuries, Jones has plummeted down the pecking order at Old Trafford, currently trailing behind Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
But despite his lowly place in the United rankings, he will not be departing the club for Bordeaux, after his move fell through in the final stages. The Ligue 1 giants were reportedly keen on taking the 29-year-old on loan until the end of the season.
However, a report from French site Girondinfos, via Get French Football News, says his move broke down in the final stages as they could not guarantee the game time he wants.
Bordeaux have been looking to re-shape their back-line, after jettisoning their current captain and former Arsenal star Laurent Koscielny from their squad. HAVE YOUR SAY!
