Manchester United contracts state of play following January transfer deadline

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has a bloated squad to work with between now and the end of the season following the club's failure to send a handful players out on loan on deadline day.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson, centre-back Phil Jones and attacking-midfielder Jesse Lingard were all in with a realistic chance of leaving Old Trafford ahead of the window slamming shut at 11pm on Monday evening and following in the footsteps of Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek, who has joined Everton on loan for the rest of the season, just the like the trio listed above, has struggled for opportunities at Old Trafford this season and has joined the Toffees in pursuit of regular minutes.

Henderson and Lingard, meanwhile, saw their hopes of moving out on loan in pursuit of the same ambition blocked, whilst talk of Jones' proposed switch to French outfit Bordeaux fizzled out.
