Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler has responded to Peter Hook‘s past claim that he applied to become the band’s new bassist following the departure of Carlos Dengler.Dengler departed the NYC indie outfit back in 2010, having been a member since the group’s formation in 1997. Interpol continued as a trio, though their live shows feature additional touring musicians.Shortly after Dengler quit, former New Order bassist Hook told LA Weekly that he’d “applied” to replace the ex-member but claimed he “didn’t get picked”.

New Order have addressed rumours that they are on the cusp of sharing a new album and announcing details of a 2025 world tour.The iconic ‘80s band haven’t shared a record of new material in nearly a decade, with their last studio LP arriving in the form of 2015’s critically acclaimed ‘Music Complete’.Over recent months, some fans began speculating that a new release was on the way, along with details of new tour dates planned for the new year. Now though, the band have shared an official statement on their website and confirmed that there are no announcements for a new album or live shows on the horizon.“We always want to keep our fans informed of the latest news about New Order, and we always share official news across our social media channels and our website, first,” the post began.“We are aware of news that claims the band will be releasing a new studio album and will be embarking on a world tour, news that is incorrect,” it added, also urging fans to only believe updates shared through the band’s official social media platforms.While New Order haven’t shared an album since ‘Music Complete’, they did return in 2020 with their first new material in five years.

New Order and Peter Hook have paid tribute to their former collaborator Quincy Jones, who they say “made us big in America”.The legendary producer and songwriter died on Sunday (November 3), aged 91. His long career saw him collaborate with the likes of Ray Charles, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra, and he went on to produce Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, to this day the biggest selling album of all time.Among the countless great artists Jones impacted was New Order, who were signed to Qwest Records in the US, Jones’ own label. In 1988, Jones also remixed the Manchester band’s classic single ‘Blue Monday’ alongside John Potoker, which was released under the title ‘Blue Monday 1988’ and reached Number Three on the UK charts, surpassing the song’s original high of Number Nine.Writing on X/Twitter, New Order founding bassist Hook shared his tribute to the producer.

Peter Hook & The Light have shared some new UK live shows for 2025, which will see them perform New Order’s ‘Get Ready’ in its entirety.Taking place next spring, the run of live shows will comprise three dates across the UK, and will see the former New Order and Joy Division bassist revisit the band’s somewhat overlooked seventh studio album, which arrived in 2001.The shows will kick off at the Marble Factory in Bristol on April 17, before continuing the following night (18) with their first show in London since last October, taking place at the Troxy. New Order and Joy Division co-founder Peter Hook ran the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run this morning (May 21) in honour of The Smiths’ Andy Rourke.Rourke died earlier this week after “a lengthy illness with pancreatic cancer”.
