New Order’s Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert have announced a reissue of the debut album which they released as part of the side-project, The Other Two.Sharing details of the reissue today (April 11), The Other Two will be bringing back their breakthrough album ‘The Other Two & You’ for a new 2024 edition, featuring a host of new features.It will be available on DSPs and CDs, as well as on a vinyl pressing. The latter marks the first time it will be available in that format in three decades.

New Order talk their current tour during SXSW keynote: “It’s like having a party and the drug is music”

Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, and Gillian Gilbert of New Order spoke today (March 15) at this year’s SXSW and discussed becoming musicians, the evolution of their sound and growing up in Manchester.The trio were keynote speakers at the annual tech and marketing festival, in conversation with Will Hodgkinson, rock and pop critic of The Times. Andy Burnham, Mayor of Manchester, introduced the keynote, calling New Order “the ultimate Manchester band” before adding that it was “a big statement”.The band kicked off their chat by discussing how they weren’t necessarily “anti-musicians” but they were “anti-success”, with Sumner pointing to growing up working class before “punk came along” giving him the chance to express himself, without being a virtuoso. “I didn’t want to be famous, I didn’t care about that at all.

Interpol respond to claim Peter Hook once applied to become their bassist

Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler has responded to Peter Hook‘s past claim that he applied to become the band’s new bassist following the departure of Carlos Dengler.Dengler departed the NYC indie outfit back in 2010, having been a member since the group’s formation in 1997. Interpol continued as a trio, though their live shows feature additional touring musicians.Shortly after Dengler quit, former New Order bassist Hook told LA Weekly that he’d “applied” to replace the ex-member but claimed he “didn’t get picked”.

Listen to The National’s new remix of Neu!’s ‘Im Glück’

The National have shared a remix of Neu!‘s 1972 track ‘Im Glück’ – you can listen to it below.Matt Berninger and co’s new interpretation of the song will feature as part of Neu!’s 50th anniversary boxset, which is due for release on September 23 via British-German label Grönland Records (pre-order here).The atmospheric eight-minute spin on ‘Im Glück’ will serve as the opening track on the 10-song ‘Tribute’ album. Other contributors include Idles, Mogwai, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, and Stephen Morris of New Order.Morris and Gabe Gurnsey shared their take on ‘Hallogallo’ back in June.

New Order talk suicide prevention in Parliament to mark anniversary of Ian Curtis’ death

Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis yesterday (May 18), two of his surviving bandmates – Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris of New Order – appeared in Parliament to discuss mental health and suicide prevention.Curtis took his own life in May 1980 after battling depression and epilepsy in his final years.
