Mayors of Manchester and Liverpool unite to demand FA Cup semi-final moved from Wembley
FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Manchester City is moved from Wembley Stadium. The two cities have been left outraged at the scheduling for their last-four clash. The one-legged London shoot-out is set for Easter weekend - when no direct trains will be running to the capital from Manchester or Liverpool due to engineering works."This leaves tens of thousands of fans from all over our region in an unfair position, as supporters’ groups from both clubs have made clear today," wrote Mayors Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram, in a joint letter to FA Chair Debbie Hewitt.“Without quick, direct trains, many people will be left with no option but to drive, fly, make overly complex rail journeys or book overnight accommodation.
