Download Festival has announced the day splits for its 2025 line-up.

Rise Against, Hatebreed, Kids In Glass Houses and more have been announced as new names on the stacked Download 2025 line-up.The music bash will return to its home of Donington Park, Leicestershire, for its 22nd year and take place from June 13-15. Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell has revealed that he and Metallica frontman James Hetfield have briefly discussed making music together.The soloist and Alice In Chains guitarist shared the news during a new issue of Metal Hammer, in which he took questions from fans.At one point in the interview, Cantrell was asked about his long-running friendship with the Metallica singer – namely whether the two had ever contemplated working together on new material.“James and I have talked about it, kind of,” he began. “We never had a formal conversation but I’ve jammed with him at Kirk’s [Hammett, Metallica guitarist] place.

Corey Taylor has opened up about how Metallica frontman James Hetfield helped him to feel less alone as he tried to get sober.The Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman has been sober since 2010, following years spent dealing with alcohol and drug issues.“[I was] dealing with my own various addictions and fighting the depression that I had to deal with for years — the trauma that kind of came from when I was growing up,” Taylor told Consequence Of Sound in a new interview.He went on to add that these traumas included being sexually abused and growing up without a father figure.Taylor then pointed towards Hetfield as one of the people who “helped me kind of figure it out” when it came to sobriety.“When he first started his journey, getting sober and getting healthy and whatnot, I looked at that, and I was, like, ‘Well, shit, if he’s strong enough to do it, maybe I can try it’,” he said. “[Sobriety] had a big enough effect on me that, over the years, I’ve really tried to stick with it.

Nickelback track ‘Side Of A Bullet’.As reported by Guitar World, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger once played the track, which appears on the band’s fifth studio album ‘For All The Right Reasons’, to Dimebag’s brother, Vinnie Paul, asking if the Pantera drummer would redo the drum parts. While he declined, he suggested the Canadian band use some of Dimebag’s unused material instead.The two groups had a close friendship and ‘Side Of A Bullet’ was written from the lyrical perspective of a Pantera fan seeking revenge for Dimebag’s death.With permission from Dimebag’s girlfriend Rita Haney, Nickelback were sent a number of solo outtakes from Pantera’s albums ‘Vulgar Display Of Power’ and ‘Far Beyond Driven’.“They were our brothers,” bassist Mike Kroeger said in a previous interview (via Guitar World).

Alice In Chains frontman Layne Staley and original bassist Mike Starr have sold their music rights to Primary Wave.Meanwhile, current members Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, Mike Inez and William DuVall have sold their catalogues with the band to Round Hill Music.As Variety reports, the latter deal was reportedly for $50million (£37m). Round Hill is set to receive a 100 per cent interest in the four current members’ copyrights to Alice In Chains’ masters and publishing.

Primary Wave and Round Hill have acquired music rights and royalties from Alice In Chains. Not jointly, mind.
