Tony de Vit, the late “Godfather of hard house”.The pioneering Kidderminster-born DJ and producer, who passed away in 1998 aged 40, has become the first DJ to ever receive the honour, which is commissioned by the Birmingham Civic Society to recognise individuals who “achieved greatness” and “made [the city] what it is today”.The plaque was unveiled this weekend (September 24) during the city’s Pride celebrations and sits at the Custard Factory venue in Digbeth, the site of the recording studios where he produced countless songs in the 1990s.Of his influence, Jez Collins of the Birmingham Music Archive told the BBC News: “He was really influential, probably on a par with Carl Cox.”Honoured to unveil a blue plaque in memory of Tony De Vit, legendary DJ and music producer of hard house & hard NRG @custardfactory, a musical legacy transcending generations. Thousands of music fans have started pouring into Heaton Park as Parklife 2023 finally kicks off. The UK’s largest metropolitan festival will welcome 80,000 people today, as they head to catch performances from the likes of Aitch, Little Simz and Fred Again..

A man has been arrested trying to enter the Parklife site with a knife and a 'quantity of pills' after being stopped by security staff with sniffer dogs. The first arrest at this year's festival comes as the cop in charge of policing the festival warned criminals: "Don't bother coming."

Glastonbury Festival has announced the 2023 line-up for The Glade – check it out below.The legendary festival is due to take place at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset between June 21-25. Creamfields North festival on Friday (August 26).The unnamed woman was taken to Warrington District General Hospital after police were called to the site in Cheshire at 10.15pm on the second night of the dance music festival.She died earlier today (August 30) in hospital. Her next of kin have been informed.Superintendent Sarah Heath, who led the policing operation for Creamfields 2022, said [via Sky News]: “The tragic death of a young woman is heart-breaking and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.“An investigation into the cause of her death is underway, but at this stage there is nothing to suggest that there are any suspicious circumstances.”Approximately 70,000 people were expected to attend the event in Daresbury, near Warrington, over the bank holiday weekend, where acts including Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Nina Kraviz, Bicep, Carl Cox, Becky Hill, Skream and Sub Focus were playing.The news comes after Cheshire Constabulary urged Creamfields ticketholders to leave any drugs or weapons in amnesty bins before they entered the site, warning festival-goers that anyone found to have taken prohibited items into the festival without disposing them risks “life-changing consequences”.Cheshire Police confirmed to Sky News that 39 people were arrested at Creamfields North.Additionally, 71 were spoken to in relation to the possession of illegal drugs and were ejected from the site.

Glastonbury has announced the latest line-up for its 2022 festival, with the bill for The Glade area being confirmed today (May 11).Preparations continue for the return of the Worthy Farm festival after two years away due to COVID. 2022’s edition will run from June 22-26 in Somerset.After Glastonbury organisers shared the line-ups for the Common, Left Field and Shangri-La areas last week, the festival has now confirmed the 2022 bill for the dance music-focused Glade.“Spawned from its roots in the Field of Avalon and the Experimental Soundfield of 1992, The Glade has been around and kicking since the year 2000,” a statement on Glastonbury’s website reads about the area.“Always evolving, this year it’s changed up a gear.
