Portishead are reissuing their classic live album ‘Roseland NYC Live’ on CD and vinyl for its 25th anniversary.‘Roseland NYC Live 25’, a remastered version of the live album recorded in New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on November 1998, will arrive on April 26. It will have an expanded tracklisting to include ‘Undenied’ and ‘Numb’ from the accompanying concert film, as well as the full-length performance of ‘Western Eyes’, a snippet of which played over the credits of the film.Meanwhile, the reissue includes the original versions of ‘Sour Times’ and ‘Roads’, which had been previously substituted on the album release with recordings from other gigs.Portishead’s Adrian Utley, who oversaw the full production of the reissue, said: “I’ve always held the memory of this show which we played before our second album was released.

Courtney Love, Thurston Moore, My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe and Portishead’s Adrian Utley have been working on a project together at Konk Studios in London, along with PJ Harvey collaborator Rob Ellis.It looks as though they’re working on a Marianne Faithfull covers project, per an Instagram post Googe shared on Tuesday (September 10).In the post, Googe wrote, “I spent a day in the Kinks‘ studio, covering Marianne Faithfull songs,” alongside a range of photos from the studio.The producer Ben Christophers made a post, too, in which he called the meeting “an amazing experience in the merging of music and film.. Suede‘s Brett Anderson has released a cover of the Echo & the Bunnymen’s classic ‘The Killing Moon’ as part of a new project.Anderson has worked with Paraorchestra and their founder and artistic director Charles Hazlewood on ‘The Death Songbook’, a collaborative 12-track album featuring original compositions and “re-imagining iconic songs exploring love, loss and transcendence” by artists including Depeche Mode, Suede and Japan. Radiohead drummer Philip Selway has announced that he will release his third solo album, ‘Strange Dance’, next year.The idea behind the sound of the record was an imagined situation where Carole King collaborated on an album with Daphne Oram and invited him to drum on it. Helping him to realise this vision he enlisted musicians including Hannah Peel, Adrian Utley, Quinta, Marta Salogni, Valentina Magaletti and Laura Moody.“The scale of it was very deliberate for me, from the outset”, he says.

Lorenz said enlisting Chant and Utley for the project was a choice made to add more of a “classic” feel to their genre-meshing sound.“We were at Ali’s studio down in Bristol, and we asked to work with them to get a more classic sound,” she explained.
