Courtney Love, Thurston Moore, My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe and Portishead’s Adrian Utley have been working on a project together at Konk Studios in London, along with PJ Harvey collaborator Rob Ellis.It looks as though they’re working on a Marianne Faithfull covers project, per an Instagram post Googe shared on Tuesday (September 10).In the post, Googe wrote, “I spent a day in the Kinks‘ studio, covering Marianne Faithfull songs,” alongside a range of photos from the studio.The producer Ben Christophers made a post, too, in which he called the meeting “an amazing experience in the merging of music and film.. Don’t want to say much more but you’ll find out soon enough.”A post shared by Deb Googe (@googoogiegoo)While we don’t know any more details about the project at this stage, the album ‘The Faithfull: A Tribute To Marianne Faithfull‘ was released last December, featuring covers of 19 songs originally performed by the singer-songwriter between 1964 and 2004.

Thurston Moore has shared his captivatingly tragic new single ‘The Diver’ from his upcoming album.The latest single features lyrics by Radieux Radio, which describes the life of a diver who eventually succumbs to the wildlife. The likes of bass player Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine) and percussionist Jem Doulton (Roisin Murphy) play on the song.‘The Diver’ opens with a dreamy guitar and bass riff while Moore sings: “They found your watercolours and your fuel not spent”. Speaking about the song in a statement, Moore shared: “‘The Diver’ ends the album with the actual story of a diver lost underwater in Lake Geneva while these songs were being written.“The diver was exploring the deep, researching a world at mercy to human disruption, only to be found days later, his life having succumbed to the wild.

Brix Smith was at the BandLab NME Awards 2022 to accept the Music Moment Of The Year award on behalf of Liam Gallagher for his “absolutely fantastic” free gig for NHS workers.The Fall legend was speaking to NME in the winner’s room after accepting the award for Gallagher, who was unable to attend the ceremony at the O2 Academy Brixton.Gallagher, Smith revealed, DJed her wedding in Italy 22 years ago with Alan McGee as a wedding present.“I’m a big fan of his,” Smith said of Gallagher. “I’ve known him for a long time and what he did for the NHS was absolutely fantastic.“With the years that we’ve been through, the last two years and what’s going on now, there’s definitely one thing that will keep us united and uplift us, and that’s music,” she said.Smith added: “Music can help us get through anything, it really really can.
