A vegetarian version of Peperami has been released. The so-called "Vegerami" has been launched from today (May 9), following some chicken-flavoured veggie bites that were launched by the snack company last year.

Peperami announced the news on Twitter on Monday, May 9, saying that the snack is now available in Tesco. They wrote: "It’s finally here!

A lot of you have been asking me if I was ever going to release a Vegerami Stick. Lucky for you lot, we have! Go out and grab some from Tesco now!" They are made with plant protein and are 64 calories per stick.

Peperami is just one more convenience food that has branched out to a more meat-free society, following the McDonald's, KFC and Greggs launch of vegetarian versions of popular meals and snacks. However, it is unclear how well the snacks will go down with some consumers, as the Vegerami stick is vegetarian, not vegan, as it contains egg.
