It comes as temperatures are expected to dip down again from today following a milder start to the week, thanks to a meandering jet stream across the AtlanticSnow is expected to return to roads and pavements across the nation in the next few days, with maps from independent weather forecaster WX Charts showing accumulations of 2cm per hour occurring over northern England and Scotland on Thursday (April 7).Further lighter snowfalls are also predicted on Friday in the UK, while Netweather say overnight lows of -5C will be seen in some parts of north Scotland.The weather outlook from the Met Office for Thursday to Saturday reads: "Unsettled with wintry showers or longer spells of rain and hill snow Thursday and Friday, sunny spells in between.

Cold and often windy. Drier and brighter for most on Saturday."A "chance of snow" is also possible on higher ground next week, the weather agency said.Jim Dale, a meteorologist for British Weather Services, reckons this period of chilly weather will stick around until Easter Sunday (April 17).He told the Express: "The polar front will sink southwards on Tuesday night first hitting Scotland before reaching southern regions by around Thursday."There will be snow and, in some places, especially over high ground of the Grampians and the highlands of Scotland it could really pile up."He added that there would be "flip-flopping" between "mild, cold and wet" conditions up to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.With wintry elements expected to persist for at least the next week, one high street bookmaker has drastically shortened its odds on this month setting a new record.Having been a 10/11.
