Ayrshire RaceRunning sensation Kayleigh Haggo is celebrating her second new world record in a fortnight. The Maybole marvel moved a giant step up in distance as she negotiated a 5000m event at the National Championships.
Haggo, 22, was recently savouring a new world record in the RR2 200m event at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena in Kilmarnock. During that event she crossed the finishing line in a lifetime best time of 37.25 seconds.
But yesterday in Kilmarnock, Kayleigh kept her cool in the blistering heat and posted 20 mins 8.94 secs for the 5000m – which is now expected to be rubber-stamped as another world record – subject to ratification.
