Manchester United's team bus was damaged after a glass bottle was launched at it as it arrived at Anfield. The Reds are taking on their rivals from the other end of the M62 in a crunch Premier League clash this afternoon (Sunday).
And the bus carrying their players came under attack as it neared the stadium. Footage shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed the moment a glass bottle of Kopparberg cider was thrown at the bus Fans could be heard chanting "Oh Manchester is full of s***" in the footage, as the bottle hit a top window of the bus.
The bottle is said to have smashed part of a window on the upper deck. Liverpool FC have now issued a statement on the incident, reports the Liverpool Echo. A club spokesperson said: "We are aware of footage of the incident circulating online and are working with Merseyside Police to fully investigate and identify those responsible. "LFC utterly condemns the actions that led to damage being caused to the MUFC team bus during its arrival at Anfield.
Any individuals found guilty of this reprehensible behaviour will also face the full force of the club’s sanction process." It is not the first time an opposition's bus has been damaged before a game at the stadium.
