Hugill, a £300,000 summer signing from Sunderland, celebrates his 17th birthday on Monday and is believed to have agreed a deal until 2023.
Hugill has already been fast-tracked into the Under-23s even though he is a first-year academy scholar and scored two in three starts, as well as converting a penalty in the Under-21s' EFL Trophy shootout victory at Rochdale.
United fought off competition from Arsenal and Tottenham to sign Hugill, who was on the scoresheet in the U23s's 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.A shortage of strikers at reserve level forced U23 coach Neil Wood to promote.
