Storm Dudley is set to hit Greater Manchester later today - bring fierce winds and a 'danger to life' Met Office warning. Forecasters predict a 'spell of very strong winds' and a risk of disruption later on Wednesday and into the small hours of Thursday.
Greater Manchester is covered by an official 'yellow' Met Office alert. And on Friday, the Met Office has updated its wind alert for Greater Manchester to 'amber' as Storm Eunice sweeps in behind Dudley.
The Eunice alert reads: "Storm Eunice may cause significant disruption due to extremely strong winds on Friday. "There is a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life" On Wednesday, road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, forecasters said, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.
Some roads and bridges could close. The Met Office has warned of falling trees and damage to buildings, saying tiles could be blown from roofs.
