Glasgow City Council in touch with COP26 chiefs over potential extension of road closures

There are fears that Glasgow’s road closures could last for longer amid suggestions that COP26 talks could be extended. World leaders and delegates remain locked in talks at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) ahead of the climate summit’s scheduled close later today.

It was previously reported that the conference could last until Sunday as officials continue working to strike a new agreement on tackling the global climate crisis.

Boris Johnson has also stated that the event could go into ‘extra time’ if it is required.Local residents have feared that this could result in more disruption in the city centre over the coming days.Many of the city’s roads, walkways and cycle paths have been closed off to accommodate the large-scale event.Glasgow
