Frank Lampard may well have led raucous celebrations with Everton players and supporters after their Premier League survival was confirmed - but their future in the division depends on the business they do in the transfer market this summer.

Richard Dunne made his professional breakthrough at Goodison Park in 1997 having joined from Dublin outfit Home Farm as a 15-year-old schoolboy, playing across five seasons before leaving to join Manchester City.

The Republic of Ireland icon, who now resides in Monte Carlo, thinks the hard work has only just begun for Lampard due to years of poor recruitment that has left the squad needing a huge clear out. "It's been difficult to watch them because in the last couple of seasons they've started off really well and looked like they were going to compete for a Europa League place at least and it's just fallen apart," Bet365 ambassador Dunne told Daily Star Sport . "Certainly this season they got themselves into a really bad situation so it's difficult to watch them, especially with the amount of money they've spent over the last few years, the recruitment has not been right for them."That's not down to Lampard who's only had a couple of months there.

The job was probably bigger than he expected going in there." Where will Everton finish in the Premier League next season?
