Mason Mount backed to beat Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland to Ballon d'Or

Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips believes that Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount has a good chance of winning the Ballon d’Or in the near future.The England international scored 10 and assisted 11 for the Blues in 32 Premier League last season, his best campaign to date.

The midfielder also won Chelsea Player of the Season for the second season running.But although Mount enjoyed a fruitful campaign, his overall season did not appear to be one that warranted being recognised as one of the best in the business.

But Wright-Phillips believes that the 23-year-old could progress into a player that can compete for top awards with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland in the future.He told Genting Casino: “If Chelsea were to win trophies and Mason Mount is the stand-out player, there is no reason why he couldn’t win the Ballon D’Or one day.

Mount is still a young player and is still learning to be consistent.“He's played so well and is carrying Chelsea on his shoulders and helped them get into the Champions League.
